Reaffirming our commitment to Puerto Rico

The deep commitment of mumms® software to hospice in Puerto Rico has been made permanent. The mumms® Puerto Rico office will open and begin operations in June 2011. The office also provides The Commonwealth with a software Training Center where the mumms® staff, who live in Puerto Rico, will provide services in both Spanish and English. The office will be located in the 1959 Building Center Suite 308 1959 Calle Loíza San Juan.

As you know Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoP) for hospices require every hospice to develop and maintain an effective and data-driven quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) program.

The mumms® team mission is to enhance and improve the operational and compliance capabilities of Puerto Rico hospices. To that end we will be providing continuing education seminars and we want to introduce the hospice community in Puerto Rico to the most advanced hospice software that is available. mumms® has 23 years of hospice service.

 

We are inviting you to join us on July 21, 2011 for a free seminar: 

"Maximize your QAPI program with the power of mumms."

  • This seminar will provide Attendees with an understanding of QAPI regulation in the daily operations of their hospice program
  • This seminar will provide an understanding of the CMS focus on the Cycle of Care which establishes the foundation for Improved patient outcomes
  • Attendees will learn how to incorporate data currently collected into their QAPI program
  • The seminar is designed to assist hospices in the development or enhancement of their QAPI program.

The seminar will be given, free of charge at the Terra Campestre Convention Center in Guaynabo on Thursday- 21 July 2011 and it will begin at 8 am with a coffee and greeting the seminar’s leader Cindy McCarville. The seminar concludes at 10:30 am and will be followed by a full demonstration of the mumms® Software System hospice specific business and clinical software. Lunch will be provided and the presentation by the mumms® staff will end at 4 pm.

Some of Cindy’s discussion will consider Clinical Quality – patient-specific data capture, performance tracking and benchmarking, measuring the quality of symptom management, care planning and delivery, infection control, incidence and occurrence tracking. Cindy will also discuss how electronic clinical documentation systems can simplify QAPI compliance and improve patient care.

Hospice Administrators, Clinical Leaders, Patient Care Supervisors, Managers, Directors of Clinical Services, and hospice staff that are responsible for the QAPI program or compliance

Course Instructor: Cindy McCarville
QAPI Expert

Cindy has 30 years of experience in the development and implementation of quality improvement programs for health care. Cindy is certified as a Hospice and Palliative Care Administrator. Cindy operated and was the Vice President of Compliance of a very famous, very large hospice in the Southwestern US that had hundreds of employees, numerous locations, and multiple freestanding inpatient units. Cindy ensured operational compliance with Federal, State, and local Hospice guidelines. Additionally, Cindy provides services to aid other hospice organizations for an array of regulatory and compliance issues, policy and procedure development, ADR response, and CQI monitoring.  Because of her expertise in the regulatory field, Cindy was chosen to represent the state of Arizona at the CMS presentation on CoPs. She also establishes medical record processes for electronic medical record management, instructs existing staff and newly hired staff, and performs medical chart reviews to ensure the quality of the electronic charting.
