mumms® Celebrates the Unique History of Burke Hospice and Palliative Care PDF Print E-mail
Ron LaSalle, CEO of Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Dr. Donald Schumacher, President of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, and Mark Bellamy, VP of Business Development

Mark Bellamy of mumms® Software joined a loyal customer, Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, for the dedication ceremony of its new 14 bed in-patient unit on December 6, 2009. The addition to their facility was made possible through the generosity of their neighbors in Valdese, North Carolina. In turn, the ceremony had quite a turnout.

Not only was this a tremendous event for the Burke County community, but the significant news of Mr. Ron LaSalle, CEO of Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, has placed an even more special importance on the event. Mr. LaSalle has recently been admitted as a patient to his own hospice mission. Dr. Don Schumacher, President of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), and US Congressman Patrick McHenry attended and participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony as well. Dr. Schumacher also delivered the news that the employees of Burke Hospice and Palliative Care have established the Ron LaSalle Limited Endowment Fund for Charity Care. As additional contributions are made, the donations will enable the hospice to start getting distributions from this fund to use for charity care work.

Mr. LaSalle is a true inspiration and reminds us of the true purpose of hospice care. The mumms® Team is honored to call Mr. LaSalle our colleague and our friend, and we are glad to aid Burke Hospice and Palliative Care in their mission of providing the best care for him possible.
