Technical What type of computer do I need to use CPC? CPC is both Windows and Mac OSX compatible. The recommended computer hardware specification can be found under "Client Specifications". What type of security does CPC use? All data transmissions are protected via HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) over SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). More information can be found under "Technical Architecture". How are data backups performed? Data on the mumms® CPC production servers is mirrored each night to backup production servers. The data is also stored on data-specific backup servers for five days and then copied to tapes that are transported to a secure offsite facility. In the event of a production server failure, the backup data would be re-synched to the backup server and clients would be automatically updated to use that server. What if data is lost? The backup schema utilized by CPC ensures that multiple copies of all data are archived and maintained on three different servers across the country. CPC tracks every click the user makes and stores this data in session logs on the servers. Because mumms® CPC saves every version of each chart, in the case of a catastrophic event, mumms® can reconstruct any chart. To date, mumms® CPC has never lost a visit on any patient. How do I report problems with the software? CPC has a built-in problem reporting system. Users click on "Report a Problem", describe the problem, then click "Send". In addition to sending a description of the problem, the system automatically sends mumms® CPC support a screen shot of the previous page with all necessary data needed to resolve the problem. How do I get software updates? CPC users are alerted at login whenever a new or updated version is available. CPC also has the capability for mandatory updates which force all users to update the software before work can be continued. How often are mumms® CPC updates published/released? mumms® CPC follows the life cycle strategy of frequently releasing program updates before changes are needed. Accordingly, all mumms® users may expect new releases approximately every three months. What if my computer crashes, loses power or is mistakenly turned off while I am using CPC? Will I lose data or my visit? Never. As CPC does not have a "save" button, each key-stroke is automatically saved by the program. In the event of any computer failure, the user would simply log into CPC again and the data will be restored. Do you have a Beta Testing Program? Any hospice employee can join the mumms® CPC Beta Testing Team. In fact, mumms® encourages each hospice and palliative care facility to join the program. Not only does it help mumms® reduce bugs, this gives each user the added benefits of seeing new features first and providing feedback on these features. Do I have to be connected to the Internet to use CPC? No. CPC was specifically designed to work with or without an internet connection. In "offline" mode, CPC stores the data on the machine, and once an internet connection is available, the user will be prompted to "synchronize". This will send all unsynched data to the server. If data is unable to be synchronized immediately, the Conflict Resolution System ensures that it will be placed in the appropriate chart in proper sequence, based on the visit date, not the synchronize date. Administrative My organization has multiple locations. Can I still use CPC? Yes. CPC was designed for this. Each location will have its own patient list and set of users. Users can be granted access to multiple locations. How long has CPC been in use? CPC v1.0 was released in July 2004. Is there a limit on the number of users that can use CPC? No. The number of potential users is unlimited. CPC was designed to provide simultaneous access for an unlimited number of users for each of its hospice and palliative care organizations. Is CPC multi-disciplinary? Yes. All disciplines, ranging from physicians to social workers, can use CPC. What is the typical implementation schedule for CPC? How long does it take? Implementation for mumms® CPC begins with a review the forms that are delivered with the program. CPC is delivered with the Best Practices clinical data set which users are encouraged to compare with existing forms. CPC forms are fully customizable and this comparison may identify some changes wanted by the clinical staff. Changes can be made to the wording of forms, locations of text areas, or orders of questions. New forms can be added as well. Once the clinical dataset is reviewed and customization requests have been programmed, training can begin. Following a period of practice, the hospice or palliative care facility identifies the date when the program "goes live" and real-time, official patient charting and use of CPC begin. Where does training occur? The CPC Liaison Program provides online training and includes an on-site training session by a mumms® Liaison. CPC training is also offered at the training facility in New Orleans, Louisiana. |
