Technical

What type of computer do I need to use PAS?
PAS will run on any version of Windows, from Windows 2000 forward, including Windows 7, XP, and Vista.

What type of security does PAS use?
All data transmissions are protected via HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) over SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). More information can be found in the "Technical Architecture" section.

How are data backups performed?
Data on the mumms® production servers is mirrored each night to backup production servers. The data is also stored on data-specific backup servers for five days and then copied to tapes that are transported to a secure offsite facility. In the event of a production server failure, the backup data would be re-synched to a backup server and clients would be automatically updated to use that server.

What if data is lost?
The backup schema utilized by PAS ensures that multiple copies of all data are archived and maintained on three different servers across the country.

How do I report problems with the software?
PAS has a built-in link to email problems to technical support. Users click on the support icon, describe the problem, then click "Send".

How do I get software updates?
Updates are made directly to the server without any additional action needed by the program users. Release notes are sent to alert users of the changes that have been made.

How often are mumms® updates published/released?
mumms® follows the life cycle strategy of frequently releasing program updates before changes are needed. Accordingly, all mumms® users may expect new releases approximately every three months.

What if my computer crashes, loses power or is mistakenly turned off while I am using PAS? Will I lose data?
No. All data is entered directly into the server. In the event of any computer failure, the user would simply re-log into PAS and the data will be restored.

Do you have a Beta Testing Program?
Yes. Any hospice or palliative care employee can join the mumms® Beta Testing Team. In fact, mumms® encourages each hospice and palliative care facility to join the program. Not only does it help mumms® reduce bugs, this gives each user the added benefits of seeing new features first and providing feedback on these features.

Do I have to be connected to the internet to use PAS?
Yes. As all work is sent directly to the server, internet connection is necessary.

Does PAS work with other Windows® programs?
Yes. All PAS reports open in a Windows® program: Excel, Word or a text editor such as Note Pad or Word Pad.

Can PAS data be exported to other software programs?
Yes. PAS can interface with any other third party software program that can import data. The fields and format of the program are the only information needed to interface.

Administrative

My organization has multiple locations. Can I still use PAS?
Yes. PAS was designed for this. Each location will have its own database and its own set of users. Users can be granted access to multiple locations.

How long has PAS been in use?
PAS v1.0 was released in 1989.

Is there a limit on the number of users that can use PAS?
No. The number of potential users is unlimited. However, the number of PAS licenses will determine how many users can be logged in simultaneously.

Is PAS multi-disciplinary?
Yes. PAS has applications for all hospice and palliative care departments. Features and reports to support all clinical and administrative staff are included in the program.

What is the typical implementation schedule/plan for PAS? How long does it take?
Implementation for mumms® PAS begins as soon as all contacts are received and logins are issued. Most often, this process is done within 48 hours.

Where does training occur?
PAS training is available online, on-site, or at the mumms® training facility in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana.
