Hospice clinicians often encounter patients whose wishes for their final days include fried food or ice cream. While this may not be advisable in preventative care, in hospice, it can help make someone's final days memorable. A nurse describes her experience with her grandmother and how it prepared her for hospice care.
National Hospice and Palliative Care Month and National Family Caregiver Month start today and continue on throughout November. Everyone here at the mumms team wants to extend our gratitude for all of the amazing care that our clients and caregivers provide.
A study sponsored by the National Institute of Nursing Research and the National Cancer Institute is calling for more research on shared decision making in hospice care. The team that conducted the study believes this research could help hospice teams
be more effective and engaged when helping families through these tough decisions.
